Presentation of Slovenian Culture in United Kingdom June to November 2005
The programme consists of the latest projects by Slovenian artists in
various fields and is designed to offer a cross section of the most
recent cultural creativity in Slovenia.
The series of presentations of visual art from Slovenia began at
the end of June with two events forming part of a presentation of new
EU members entitled "Arrivals>Slovenia".
From 6 September onwards the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA)
in London is hosting a "Slovenian Season" which will include
presentations of works from the fields of multimedia art, theatre,
film, electronic music and design.
Additionally, September, October and November will see various
presentations - in London, Edinburgh and Shrewsbury - of Slovenian
visual art and design, Slovenian drama, Slovenian literature and
Slovenian philosophy.

British radio that also speaks Slovene
Bush House, the home of BBC World Service, aired its first programme
in the Slovene language in April 1941 and the editors still work at
this location. The Slovene section daily produces programmes which
are broadcast in Slovenia by 24 radio stations.
Lara Bohinc
The Slovene-born jewellery designer Lara Bohinc lives and works in
London - since 1997 under her own label Lara Bohinc 107. Her studio
and shop are located in Hoxton Square, east London. In recent years it
has become one of the best known labels for fashion accessories not
only in the United Kingdom but also the US and Japan. Her jewellery is
worn by the most famous fashion models, film actresses and singers.
